Punjab Elections 2027: AAP Releases First List of 40 Candidates, Ministers Left Out

AAP has released its first list of 40 candidates for the Punjab Assembly elections 2027. CM Bhagwant Mann and Manish Sisodia announced the names, while cabinet ministers remain absent from the list.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has begun stepping up its preparations for the Punjab Assembly elections 2027, releasing its first list of 40 candidates. The list has drawn attention as it does not include the name of any cabinet minister, signalling that the party is preparing to announce candidates in phases ahead of the elections.

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and state in-charge Manish Sisodia confirmed the candidates during a press conference, putting an end to speculation over the names included in the first list.

The announcement comes amid expectations that the party could deny tickets to 30 to 40 sitting MLAs in Punjab as part of its electoral preparations.

Candidate Names Approved at Political Affairs Committee Meeting

Before the announcement, the names of the candidates were finalised at a meeting of the party's Political Affairs Committee held at Arvind Kejriwal's residence in Delhi.

Following the release of the first list, the possibility of 30 to 40 sitting MLAs losing their tickets appears to be gaining ground. However, the absence of cabinet ministers from the first list does not mean that they will be denied tickets altogether.
